Steven J. Reese (Class Of 1967) Scholarship Now Open To Applicants

The Greene County Foundation is pleased to announce that the Steven J. Reese (Class Of 1967) Scholarship is now open to applicants.  Shakamak High School students will have the opportunity to apply for this scholarship until the deadline of Wednesday, April 11th at 11:59pm.  Students can apply by visiting the Greene County Foundation application portal here: https://greenecountyfoundation.communityforce.com/Login.aspx

To be eligible for the Steven J. Reese (Class Of 1967) Scholarship, applying students must be graduating seniors attending Shakamak High School and planning on attending a two- or four-year college or university or an accredited vocational or certificate training program.  Students must have a high school cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.  One winning student will be awarded the scholarship; the scholarship award amount will be $2,500 per year, and renewable each year for up to four years based on academic performance.

Mr. Steven J. Reese, formerly of Jasonville, had been very successful in his business life and wished to return his good fortune to others in the Shakamak School system.  He had also recently donated a major piece of art from his private collection to the Indiana University museum.  Unfortunately, Mr. Reese passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2017.  However, his family was committed to making sure his wishes were carried out and his passion for supporting Shakamak graduates was honored as planned.  The scholarship was first announced prior to Jasonville/Shakamak Homecoming in the fall of 2017.
