The Greene County Foundation holds 140 funds focused on various charitable purposes. Funds can be designated to support a specific organization, charitable activity, or scholarship. Unrestricted Community Support Funds address the most immediate community needs and allow the Foundation the ability to make those decisions, while donor-advised funds allow the donor to help determine each year how the earnings will be spent. Donors may have as much or as little involvement with their fund as they wish.
Contributions can be made to any fund and can be done in any amount in a variety of ways. Credit card gifts are accepted through PayPal on this site. You may wish to work with your financial advisor, attorney, or accountant for assistance with contributions that can provide income, tax savings, or both while also benefiting your charitable passions. Local farmers can even make Gifts of Grain.
The Greene County Foundation is YOUR vehicle to making a lasting difference in Greene County, not only for today, but for all our tomorrows.
Community Support Funds
The Community Support grant cycle is paid from the earnings of our unrestricted funds. Many donors want to see their contributions go toward a variety of charitable causes which can vary from year to year. These donors have made the decision to allow the Board of Directors of the Greene County Foundation the freedom to determine where/how these earnings are to be spent. The Foundation has a grant committee that reviews all grant requests and makes the awards. Organizations are notified of the opening of the cycle through newspaper press releases, emails, and word of mouth. The Foundation currently holds 29 unrestricted funds. General contributions should be made to the Greene County Foundation Community Support Fund, unless specified to one of the other funds should the donor wish to do so.
Over $500,000 has been awarded through Community Support Grants in the past 5 years.
